Schluckwerder Edelmarzipan Rumtruffel

My previous two marzipan bars were fantastic, soo this 3rd time around should be a charm. I'm curious for this Schluckwerder Edelmarzipan Rumtruffel from Germany. Edelmarzipan mit Rumtrauben gefullt mit Rumtruffel in Milchschokolade, or in other words, Chocolate filled with fine marzipan and rum raisins and rum truffle. A+ in German 101! Just kidding, there's English translation on the back <span class=
Why does marzipan tend to be heavy? This bar comes in at 75g - hey more marzipan goodness right! Unwrapping and taking a bite from the bar, I'm immediately hit with SWEET. And not sweet in a good way like "sweet!". But sweet like "I need some water!"
The thin layer of marzipan lacks marzipan taste. Instead, there is overwhelming sugariness from the rum truffle and rum raisins. Oh, I do taste the 5% rum. And it hits me - this bar tastes allot like eating DATES! A paste of date and raisins *shudder. Kind of like eating just the filling of a Fig Newton bar. The milk chocolate coating doesn't remedy this disastrous concoction.
And my streak of good marzipan chocolate stops at its track here. I still have a dark chocolate version of this bar... which I'm going to hide in the back of the fridge for a while eek
